The Midwest heads North
Oh geez. Now I’m using this space as a bulletin board.
But, it’s for a very noble cause. I’m asking if there’s anyone who wants to go to the Bright Eyes concert in Minneapolis with me. The date is April 25th, and tickets are $28.50US, plus trip expenses (gas, food). If you say ‘yes’, there won’t be any guarantees that we’re going until the tickets are bought. But think about it. And think fast.
Here’s a little taste of the kind of things you’d be missing, should you choose to refuse.
Four Winds video (also available on YouTube).
I may record my thoughts and reactions to this magnificant group, and Oberst in particular, in the near future. I also may not.

Just realized, Martin Sexton is also holding a concert in nearby Fargo in April. The 15th, I believe…

He’s playing in Omaha on the 26th. I won’t be there (I’m on Choir tour), but its about the same distance as Minneapolis if you want to go there instead, but tickets are 30$. If you do want to go to Omaha instead though, I could easily find you a place to crash.

Omaha is a bit further, and I guess not as impressive as Minneapolis, but it was just a suggestion that I thought I’d throw out there.

Ah, well, I just bought my Interpol tickets so I’ve spent my concert money for the next month. Would have been good though, even though I hated that Digital Urn album. Wide Awake was pretty good though, and I generally enjoy the rest of his catalogue.

True. But if Omaha came with a place to crash it may be worth the change in venues anyway. I’ll have to think about that.
Too bad Brad. You’re missing out.

Hey, you wouldn’t have even known about the Bright Eyes concert if I hadn’t have told you.

Oh no no no, I’m seeing Interpol. I’m certainly not missing out :P

Have you realized that Muse is playing in Winnipeg? Granted, they’re opening for other bands that I would like to avoid completely (and why is Muse opening for someone, anyway?). But I’ll still be there for Muse.

I hope you enjoy Interpol, but in my mind they don’t hold a candle to either group I’ve mentioned.
Yeah, I’ve heard about Muse, though I don’t know when they’re playing exactly or any of the details. I would like to see that one too. But only if it’s later in the summer, when I can afford it.

A pox on your house Tristan!!! Paul Banks could sooooo beat up Conor Oberst!

MUSE?
When?

Why can’t all these bands play, say, NOW? Instead of the week after I leave the prairies? Life is just not fair.

Muse is hitting home May 15.
The only problem is that they’re…
opening…
for.
My Chemical Romance.
Seriously, what were they thinking?

Oh sweet merciful heavens NO.
I don’t think even my love for Muse can overcome my revulsion of MCR. I would have to mingle with their fans – people who actually like them – and I am not strong enough for that.
I wish this was some awful, humorless joke that you were playing.
Why would Awesome ever, under any circumstance, open for Crap?
I wonder if Muse members stand around back stage afterwards going: “These guys are bollocks. If only they’d get sucked into a supermassive black hole.”

I don’t actually think that MCR’s music is crap. Their music is okay, on some levels. I like the sound that they get from their guitars, and there are some things that are pretty cool. I think it is their image, and their messages that I hate, not to mention their fans. I often percieve whether I will like a band or not through their fans, because sometimes fans can ruin the music. I think probably also hate the members of the band on a personal level. Their music isn’t horrible though.
