The Telematrix, Part 7
From nearly every account, King Reginald XXVII was a proud and stern man, rarely intimidated by others and never struck by indecision. While he was sometimes an unpredictable monarch, it was these precise qualities that bred such intense loyalty among his subjects.
But following the Telematrix’s abduction, there was marked change in him. He had become but a shell of the man he had been. Where he would once have stood firm to deliver a reassuring address to the Gilbetronians, he now shut himself up in his chambers and refused visitors or company of any kind.
That is, until he was informed of Tronya Soy’s appearance in the courtyard with the four girls.
In a moment of reprieve from his emotional paralysis, he made two orders. The first was the immediate execution of Soy, in punishment for failing to anticipate and defend the abduction.
The second was to bring the four young girls to him at once.
