The Telematrix, Part 12
Soy had always told her to emotionally detach from her sisters, but the long ride back from the village made for a difficult time. There was no way to endure the 4-day journey in complete silence. When her sister spoke, Telematrice found it impossible not to engage her at all. She couldn’t help but think the disservice of ignoring her was as horrible as the act of returning her to their father.
Telematrice wasn’t prepared for the conflict she began to experience. She couldn’t avoid the inevitable conclusions her mind was taking her to. By helping her father gather the Telematrice, she was showing loyalty to a man she had every intention of one day killing. While she did not what price the Mysts would exact on the king for failing to hold up his end of the bargain, she couldn’t deny she hoped it would be horrible and painful.
After all, her sister was as innocent in the mess as she was herself.
In this respect, it was a good thing the journey was long; it took nearly the entire trip for her to make her decision.
